The graduate certificate program in Holocaust and Genocide Studies provides the knowledge, theory and practical skills in the growing fields of comparative genocide studies and international human rights advocacy. Working with the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, it will prepare or supplement students for continued study in master’s and doctoral programs in Holocaust and comparative genocide, 区域研究, 冲突与和平研究, 安全研究, genocide prevention and international policing and human rights, 国际法和移民法.
It also prepares educators and administrators to teach and implement mandated human rights and comparative genocide curricula, the knowledge and skills to lead national and state agencies and non-profit organizations, 基金会和非政府组织. In order to accommodate all prospective and current students, the certificate program is designed as both as a stand-alone, non-degree certificate or as an element of a master’s degree program at Salem State University.
The certificate will achieve the following three objectives:
(1) deepen student’s interdisciplinary knowledge of comparative genocide and 冲突研究和人权 and expand their critical thinking skills,
(2) provide students with opportunities for attending public lectures by international experts, 密集的研讨会, curriculum workshops and extensive international study and travel courses and institutes;
